About Color Converter

This color converter shows one color in all five formats designers and developers use: HEX, RGB, HSL, OKLCH and CMYK. Type a value in any of them, or pick a color with the picker, and every format updates at once with a copy button beside it.

The format is detected automatically, so you can paste #ff6b35, rgb(255 107 53), hsl(16 100% 60%), oklch(70% 0.19 39) or cmyk(0% 58% 79% 0%) without choosing anything first. Transparency is understood in HEX (8 digits), RGB, HSL and OKLCH, and carried through to the formats that support it.

HEX and RGB are exact copies of each other. HSL is the same sRGB color, written as hue, saturation and lightness. OKLCH is a perceptual model that matches how light a color looks, and is supported by modern CSS. CMYK uses the standard formula, so treat it as an estimate: real print results depend on the paper, the inks and a color profile.

Everything is calculated in your browser, so the colors you enter are never sent anywhere. If you only need one direction, each pair has its own page, like HEX to RGB or OKLCH to HEX.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert a color between formats?

Type or paste a color into the box, in any format, or choose one with the picker. Every format is shown straight away, and the copy button beside each one puts it on your clipboard.

Which color formats does the converter support?

HEX (3, 4, 6 and 8 digits), RGB and RGBA, HSL and HSLA, OKLCH and CMYK. The syntax can be the classic comma form or the modern space form with a slash for transparency.

Why do HEX and RGB match exactly but CMYK does not?

HEX and RGB are two ways of writing the same 8-bit sRGB numbers. CMYK describes ink on paper and depends on a printer profile, so a browser can only estimate it with the standard formula.

What is OKLCH and why would I use it?

OKLCH is a color model where lightness matches what people see. It makes it easier to build palettes with even contrast and to change hue without changing brightness, and it works in CSS as oklch().

Is my color sent to a server?

No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
